Duhallow teams seek Munster Scór na Óg titles
THE Munster Scór na Óg Finals promise an exciting feast of talent on a staging in Cappoquin on Sunday next commencing at 2pm.
Participants under 17 years of age representing GAA clubs from all over the province will showcase their cultural wares in music, song and dance. The pedigree of talent within Munster is illustrated on the fact that provincial winners have progressed to take a host of outright national successes over recent years.
This Sunday, Cork clubs Boherbue, Cullen, Lisgoold, Tadhg MacCarthaigh, Kilshannig and Aghabullogue go in search of the accolades amidst competition at its keenest. From the GAA promoted programme, Cork teams are expected to fare exceptionally well.
Boherbue step out in the opening figure dancing with a team of Lydia Sheehan, Sophie Dunstan, Margaret Casey, Áine O’Brien, Rosie Daly, Aoidhbe Ducey, Maeve Cremin and Elisha Daly.
Individually Katie O’Sullivan from Cullen relishes her qualification to participate in solo singing as does Alan Whelan (Lisgoold) in recitation. And Cullen will again hit the high notes in the Ballad Group per a line up of Katie O’Sullivan, Maggie Moynihan, Emily Nagle, Gemma Nagle and Clodagh O’Connor.
Meanwhile, Tadhg MacCarthaigh return in the Leiriú comprising Oisín Daly, Maeve Kingston, Timothy Farrell, Caitríona Keohane, Rory Kingston, Laura Kingston, Louise Keohane and Katie Daly.
Rousing tunes are promised by the Kilshannig Instrumental Music group of Robert Dunne, Mark O’Shea, Eoin Turner, Aoife Turner, Sarah Guiney.
A strong Cork representation is completed by the Aghabullogue set dancing octet of Rachel Barrett, Molly Mangan, Michelle Murphy, Anna O’Leary, Niamh Barry Murphy, Amy Dineen, Ciara Lyons and Meabh Murray.
Winners from the Munster showpiece go forward to the All Ireland Finals in Castlebar on Saturday, February 16.
