Man charged with Kanturk burglary

GARDAÍ have arrested and charged a man in his 20s in relation to a burglary at a house in the Kanturk area in which a vehicle was stolen on Monday, February 4.

Shortly after 5pm on February 4, Gardaí received a report of a burglary that had occurred in Kanturk during the course of the day. As part of a follow up operation, Gardaí from Kanturk arrested a man in his 20s on February 7.

The vehicle that was stolen during the incident was also recovered.

The man was detained at Mallow Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 and has since been charged.

Speaking at Fermoy Garda Station, Crime Prevention Office Sgt John Kelly said ‘I would like to reminder everyone that if you are going out, you should endeavor to make sure their home looks occupied - to Lock Up and Light Up.

“Use timer switches to turn on lights, lock all doors and windows, store keys away from windows and letterboxe­s, and use your alarm, even when you are at home.’
