‘Teen Talk’ for TY students coming to the Charleville Park
PROMOTING the importance of mental health, fitness and general well-being among young people across Cork will be the focus of an event taking place in Charleville later this month.
The ‘ Teen Talk’, co-ordinated by Cork County Council, will take place at the Charleville Park Hotel on Thursday, February 28 and is one of a number of similar events taking place at venues across the county.
The free Charleville talk will see guest speaker Kathryn Thomas of Operation Transformation fame share her tips for a happier and healthier life with Transition Year students from local schools.
The Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Patrick Gerard Murphy, said that as part of the ‘Health Cork’ initiative the authority was “committed to supporting our young people and their health and well-being.”
“We are inviting TY students across North Cork to come to Teen Talks, hear from their peers, health and fitness experts and those who are experienced in creating coping mechanisms for the challenges that we face today,” said Mayor Murphy.
Cork County Council CEO Tim Lucey said the Teen Talks would communicate important messages in an engaging way, about life and positive changes young people can adopt to “help live a healthy, happy life.”
“This event will support students and look at ways to deal with school, family, health and social media challenges through the power of positive mental health, fitness and nutrition,” he said.
