ATHLETICS

Congratulations to Anna O’Sullivan, Corbally, daughter of Mairead & Morty who competed in the Irish Life Health All Ireland U-11 Cross Country Athletics Championships in Dundalk IT on Sunday last 3rd February. Anna came 16th out of a field of 112 girls and secured two gold medals, one for coming first with her club North Cork A.C. and one for being part of the successful county result. Anna has only been running since last September and this is a great achievement considering the short time she had been involved. We wish Anna and the North Cork A.C. continued success for the remainder of the season and will keep you updated in this column.

GRAVEYARD

Spring is upon us and we are looking to clean up our graveyard and keep it up to the standard that we would all like. Some members of the normal team have retired in the last year. As a result we are looking for volunteers to join the team for 2019. If anyone is interested in taking part please contact John Corkery at 087 2550340 or any other member of the committee.

TRAFFIC CALMING

In the coming weeks work will commence on the traffic calming measures through the village. We would ask that everyone show due care and patience while this work is ongoing. This will be of great benefit to the village once complete and make it much safer for residents and especially the school children.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation will be held in Kilbrin Wednesday 27th February. We would like to have the village looking its best and we would ask everyone to make an effort to clean up their own area. Of course we should not have to ask anyone to clean up someone else’s rubbish but we find ourselves doing so because of the thoughtless behaviour of a few. In that regard we would plead with whoever is throwing rubbish out of their cars to stop and think. Someone has to come along and pick this stuff up. This is 2019, and it is in no way acceptable to throw rubbish on our ground or any other ground.

PLAYGROUND

Thanks to everyone that contributed to the playground fundraising. This project will begin very shortly and will be of great benefit for the whole community.
