AROUND THE FIRESIDE

The next programme of Around the Fireside will be broadcast on C103 Local Radio on Monday night next February 18th..2019 ,we have Patsy Herlihy and a group from Sliabh Luachra Country back again at 10.06pm.. THURSDAY CLUB

The Thursday Club get together is on this Thursday February 14th at 2pm.As usual everybody welcome. No birth cert needed.

ART CLASSES

The weekly Art class will commenced in The Heritage Centre on Tuesday night last February 12th.8pm. To 10pm. You can still this class by coming along on Tuesday night nest at 8pm.

COMHALTAS

Our new music and singing programme commenced on Wednesday January 23RD.in The Heritage Centre at the usual time. .

COUNTY FLEADH CHEOIL - This year The County Fleadh Cheoil will be held in Dunmanway on April 26th, 27th,and 28th.2019. Please note change of date. Members and parents are reminded that all entries for The Fleadh must be handed into the Comhaltas rúnaí,with entry fees before March 8th.The same closing date applies to dancing entries.

The dancing competitio­n will take place in Dunmanway on Monday May 6th. ( bank holiday)

HEART FOUNDATION COLLECTION

The annual Church gate collection in aid of The Heart Foundation will be taken up before Mass at St. Michael’s Church Freemount on this Sunday February 17th. Your generosity would be much appreciate­d.

The total rainfall recorded at The Allow Water Supply Station in Freemount for 2018 was 1.189m. There was no rain recorded for 23 consecutiv­e days from June 21st. To July 13th.Total rainfall for June was 16.5 mm.July 29.5mm. and August 48.1mm.

Overall January and December were the wettest months.Total rainfall for January was 226.8mm. And rainfall for December was 207.3mm.The wettest day was April 5th.with a total rainfall of 33.00mm.recorded in 24 hours,.

SCÓR SINSEAR - Congratula­tions to our local Scór dancers who competed in The recent Duhallow Scór final and were placed 2nd.

They were unlucky not to qualify for the County Final.They were Adrian Nagle, and Susan Feehan, Michéal and Fiona Walsh,Edel Browne, and Gerard Withers ,Nicholas O’Connor and Deirdre Lenihan.

MACRA NEWS

Well done to our Senior debaters of Noirín and Breda Stritch, Conor Judge and Sheila O’Flynn who competed in the Quarter finals of the competitio­n on Saturday night last. Unfortunat­ely,they were unsuccessf­ul on the night against Portlaoise Macra. Thanks to the team for their hard work and to their coaches and supporters
