A welcome injection of funding for Ballydesmond

-

WITH work ongoing on water supply infrastructure and local roads, a recently announced windfall for Ballydesmond promises further improvements in the locality aimed at enhancing quality of life in the village.

In a recent funding allocation aimed at enhancing social and recreations facilities within local communities, there was €56,250 for Ballydesmond, where Cork County Council will develop a plan to improve service infrastructure, foster health and community wellness, assist economic development and contribute to economic viability in the village.

Announcing the funding, The Minister for Rural and community Development, Michael Ring TD, said the monies will be used to support measures that “support the rejuvenation of communities, job creation and transform rural economies.”

“It is vital that we continue to build resilience in rural communities and make our towns and villages vibrant places for families to live. It is also particularly appropriate, with Brexit approaching, that we continue to strengthen the rural economy and support sustainable development,” said Minister Ring.

Certainly, while the people of Ballydesmond, and indeed Kiskeam also, have shown plenty of resilience to the challenges facing rural life, this latest injection of funding will be more than welcome.
