Siobhán is new General Manager of The Corkman
SIOBHÁN Murphy has been appointed as the new General Manager of The Corkman and Kerryman newspapers. The Tralee native has worked with the business since 1979 and has been the Sales and Marketing Manager since 2009.
“I consider it a privilege to take the helm of a newspaper with such a long and distinguished tradition. I am surrounded by a great team who have a genuine passion for the paper,” Siobhán said.
Siobhan has a very strong family connection with the pa- per group as her late father, Seán Colgan, served as Advertising Manager until his retirement in 1992. She is delighted to be the first Kerry person to head The Corkman and The Kerryman since Don Nolan in the 1970s.
“We’re lucky having such a recognised and trusted brand which is all down to the staff who make it their business every week to produce a quality paper. I think the relationship between local newspapers and their readers is a uniquely special one that must be preserved.”
Siobhán takes over from Mayo native John Feerick, who had worked with The Corkman and Kerryman for the past seven years. “I’d like to thank John Feerick for his work and commitment to both papers and wish him well in the future,” she said.
Commenting on the appointment, Michael Ryan, Managing Director of INM Regionals, publisher of The Corkman and The Kerryman, said: “I believe that Siobhán will do an excellent job in leading the business locally and I wish her well in her new role”.
