Subsidised Cork walking leader training courses
Photo: Daragh McSweeney THE Irish Heart Foundation in conjunction with Cork Sports Partnership and the HSE Health Promotion and Improvement Department are hosting two Walk Leader Training days this spring.
The training is primarily aimed at those wishing to lead a local walking group in their community or workplace. The course comprises of aone 1 Dday Ttraining facilitated by a trainer from the Irish Heart Foundation.
The Irish Heart Foundation, the HSE and the Cork Sports Partnership are subsidising the course and there is a nominal fee of €30 which will cover your training, materials and lunch.
Training for West Cork will take place in The Caha Centre, Ardgroom, Castletownbere on Saturday April 6th from 9.00am – 5.00pm. Another training day will be held in Cork City at the Sonas Community Centre, Knocknaheeny on Saturday 23rd March from 9.00am – 5.00pm.
During the training you will gain a greater understanding of the health benefits of walking, learn to develop and lead a local walking session for mixed fitness levels, receive advice on starting a new walking group or promoting an existing group and gain a greater understanding of posture, technique, stretching and safety issues for a successful walk.
