Revenue hits Mallow child care provider for €40k

A MALLOW child care provider was among the names included on the latest list of tax defaulters issued this week by Revenue.ie.

Marie O’Mahony, trading as ‘Curious Minds’ with an address at 16 The Laurels, Castlepark, Mallow, was among 73 settlement­s published for the three-month period from October 1 - December 31 with a combined total of €12,718,967.69.

Her settlement of €40,996 arose from a Revenue audit case relating to the under-declaratio­n of income tax and VAT and was comprised of €27,985 in tax, €8,395.50 in penalties and €4,615.50 in interest.

Meanwhile, auctioneer­s Michael O’Donovan & Sons Limited (now in liquidatio­n) with an address at Joyce House, Barrack Square, Ballincoll­ig was hit with a penalty of €124,149, determined by the courts in relation to the under-declaratio­n of corporatio­n tax and VAT in the amount of €165,532.

Trevor Hales a farmer with an address at Glenview House, Ballyhooly was hit with a fine of €2,000 by the courts relating to single charge of failing to return income tax return(s).

John C Murphy, a mechanic with an address at Corran, Waterfall and Liam Murphy, a plant and machine hire operator with an address at Ballineadi­g, Farran, were both hit with court fines of €2,500 relating to two charges each of failing to return income tax return(s).

The Revenue also listed Isiah Essien, a taxi driver with an address at The Lawn, College Wood, Mallow as being hit with a court fine of €3,000 relating to a single charge of selling illegal cigarettes.
