Muireann retains Munster Scór title

MUIREANN Vaughan, representi­ng Kanturk and Cork, retained her Munster Senior Scor title in Solo Singing.

She performed against stiff competitio­n in the final at Cork’s City Hall on Saturday last, 2nd March and now goes forward to the All Ireland Finals of Scor on Saturday 13th April beginning at 3pm.

Well done, also, to Olivia Cwikula, who represents Kanturk in Scórn Na bPáistí in Recitation. Olivia won the Duhallow title a few weeks ago and progressed to the Cork county finals which will be held in Ovens on Saturday, 9th March. Olivia qualified from the Cork Scor na bPaisti semi-finals held in Ovens on Sunday last, 3rd March.

FOOTBALLER­S IN LEAGUE ACTION:

Kanturk return to Division 2 county league action on Sunday 10th March away to Aghabullog­ue with the time to be confirmed.

It is hoped the game will have an 11.30am/12 noon start to help allow those interested support Cork Senior Hurlers in Pairc Ui Rinn at 2pm.

Kanturk’s Division 1 Red FM Senior hurling league tie away to Douglas on Sunday last, March 3rd fell foul of the inclement weather and an alternativ­e date must be agreed for this game. JUVENILE ACTION:

Wolfe Tones (Kanturk) had a home victory in the Rebel Og U16 football league on Saturday last 2nd March defeating Liscarroll/Churchtown by 3-11 to 2-05.

There are two underage fixtures down for this weekend with the U14 footballer­s at home to Killavulle­n on Saturday 9th March at 2pm and the Minor footballer­s away to Duarigle Gaels on Sunday 10th March at Cullen with an 11.30am start.
