Great line-up for ‘working’ arts fest KanturkStP­atrick’sDayparade

THE Kanturk Arts Festival Committee have lined up an impressive array of workshops for the festival weekend March 15th-18th.

Back by popular demand is the felt decoration making workshop hosted by Gerli Kerm, which proved a big hit last year.

New this year is the crochet workshop facilitate­d by Joan Lester which takes place in the Trades Union Hall from 2-5pm on Friday 15th. A place in either of these workshops can be booked by contacting Viv 087 833 9137.

Award winning author Nuala O’Connor will present a Flash Fiction Writing workshop on Saturday from 10-1pm. For details and booking, phone 087 6406705.

Artist Jessica Baron will again present KANTURK will hold a parade on St Patrick’s Day to celebrate our patron saint’s day.

Now that many communitie­s are unable to host their parades due to a number of varied circumstan­ces, it will be great that Kanturk will keep the tradition alive. Kanturk and District Community Council will host the parade as in former years and the

her very popular Oil Painting Workshop from 2-5pm in the Trades Union Hall also on the 16th. For bookings phone parade will add to the Annual Arts Festival, which will be running from March 15th to March 18th inclusive.

The parade will follow the traditiona­l route, commencing at 2.30pm at the Hospital Hill with the viewing stand at Strand Street. Local groups vintage cars and tractors will participat­e.

Back after her highly successful run with ‘Sideways on Planet Piano’ is Ruti Lachs, who will premiere her new show, ‘A Different Kettle’, at the Rugby Club on Saturday, March 9th. Tickets are available at the door and cost €10.

Speakeasy Toastmaste­rs Club members are privileged to be involved in the upcoming Kanturk Arts Festival. Liam Flynn, Bobby Buckley and Kieran Butler will be part of the impressive lineup of performers at the festival opening night at O’Callaghans Motors Showroom on Friday 15th March. On Saturday 16th March, Sean Corcoran and Kieran Buckley will participat­e in the Drama Night at the Edel Quinn Hall. Both events are worthy of support.
