Dano’s in Mallow scoops prestigious SuperValu Store of the Year Award
DANO’S in Mallow has been unveiled as the top SuperValu outlet in the country after scooping the company’s prestigious ‘Store of the Year’ award for 2019.
The store, which has been trading for more than five decades, beat off opposition from 12 other finalists to win the coveted award after undergoing an intensive audit by independent competition judge and retail consultant Matthew Brown.
The audit focussed on a number of key operational aspects including product range & quality, customer service, store presentation & innovation, its fresh food offering and hygiene standards.
Accepting the award store owner Paul O’Mahony paid tribute to his father and mother, Dan and Rose who started out in 1967, describing them as “the cornerstone of today’s business.”
He also paid tribute to his team at Dano’s, saying their 2enthusiasm and dedication had been pivotal” to winning the award.
“Our team strives towards a common goal – that of providing the absolute best fresh quality food and value for our customers, along with excellent customer service,” said Paul.
“Trading in Mallow for more than 50-years and going from a small galvanised shed to a 16,500sq. ft store is a real endorsement of the hard work of staff over the years and the people of Mallow for their support of a local retailer and local producers,” he added.
Speaking during the awards ceremony at Killarney’s Great Southern Hotel, SuperValu MD Martin Kelleher said the award recognised “the exceptional standards” maintained at the Mallow store.
“This year, competition was very close across all categories, but Dano’s SuperValu stood out and won the award for consistently providing its shoppers with a superb shopping experience,” said Mr Kelleher.
“Its fresh produce, bakery, meat and fish range, health and wellness selection along with its support of local producers is what makes this store a real winner.
