‘An opportunity to showcase our contribution to society’
INTERNATIONAL Woman’s Day on March 8 is as good an opportunity as any to reflect on the success of women in business across the county. Opportunities in business are not easily attained and they require a lot of hard work and perseverance in many cases. That’s why it is important to take a pause and appreciate the work of women in Cork and Kerry.
The success story of women in business in recent years is one built on a solid platform of hard work and personal ambition. This in turn has helped inspire a new generation of women in their business ambitions, which, in many cases, may have taken years to come to fruition.
But women have always been successful in every sector of life – not just in business – and International Women’s Day is an opportunity to reflect on this important aspect. Each of us can relate in our own way to how difficult it can be to combine our working lives with our home lives.
International Women’s Day is an occasion for us to transfer the global concept of this day into a celebration of success at a local level. Once again it is fantastic to flick through these pages and read the stories behind the faces of so many hard working, skilled and knowledgeable women. Here at The Corkman is a further case in point where half of our staff are women.
Business in Cork and Kerry is all the better for the increased input of women across different levels, from mini-industry to the higher echelons of business. Each tale of success, when combined, helps to build the bigger story and true worth of a women’s place in the workplace.
Cork and Kerry are counties with multiple examples of women in business that are working, coordinating, delegating and maximising their collective and individual potential every day. The Corkman is delighted to be able to showcase an example of this great and ongoing success story.
