Hoping for better weather for Under-21 Round 2 games
FINGERS are crossed the weather will allow some key games go ahead this weekend including the round 2 game to the Central Stores Under 21BFC on the clash of Knocknagree and Sliabh Luachra Gaels.
The latter came up short to Kanturk in the opening round, tight games came down to small margins, Kanturk making the most of netting from penalties in both halves provided a key backdrop to the destination of the spoils.
Sliabh Luachra came to grips with the situation at different stages through the involvement of Jack Daly, Jack Collins, Seán Meehan, Thomas Casey and Dáire Moynihan yet it wasn’t enough to come up trumps.
Likewise Knocknagree might well had earned some dividends from a narrow loss to Duarigle Gaels. At stages, Knocknagree exerteds an influence in the central position, Daniel O’Mahony, Gearóid Looney and Paul O’Connor initiated a series of attacks for Denis and Niall O’Connor to find the range only for reigning holders Duarigle Gaels grab a hold of the initiative.
On prospect here is a battle to the wire, Knocknagree may well shade the spoils. Should an issue arise with venues on Friday night owing to weather, Ballydesmond, Kiskeam and Knocknagree unable to host, the game will revert to Saturday with a venue to be determined by CCC.
St Peters are back into the Under 21 C FC when they encounter Robert Emmets on Saturday. Nothing more than a Peters win will suffice here for from the round robin, they incurred a defeat to Dromtariffe in the opening round.
Though operating second best for much of the hour, St Peters did create goal chances with only Michael McAulliffe finding the target. Robert Emmets made light work of Lyre and with 1-23 coming from play, it confirmed the scoring power of the winners.
St Peters are sure to benefit from a game under their belt but all the indications are Robert Emmet will maintain their winning ways.
