Goals prove vital as St Kevin’s collect points

St. Kevin’s 3-6 Kilara Og 1-7

ST Kevin’s had a close but deserved win over Kilara Og in the O’Sullivan-Lewis Under-21 C FC at Kildorrery on Saturday.

The Araglin-Kilworth side opened well with early points by Aaron Hegarty and Eoin Carey. In the eighth minute good play by Shane Buckley led to a great goal by Ronan Buckley. Stephen Finn followed with a point from a free and from play. The winners had their second goal in the 19th minute when Stephen Finn and Brian Murphy worked well for the inrushing Finn who crashed to the net 2-3 to 0-2. Aaron Hegarty pointed a free.

In the 24th minute a foul on Jack Kearney led to another pointed free by Aaron Hegarty. Dylan Finnegan followed with a point from long range. Mark Buckley pointed a free. In the 29th minute a Kilara Og free by Eoin Carey found Oisin Hickey who fed off to Sean Motherway who goaled. At the break the winners led 2-5 to 1-4.

On the resumption the Araglin-Kilworth side had the aid of the wind. Both defences were very solid. Stephen Finn pointed a free for the Ballycloug­h-Milford side. Kilara Og battled back well. They found the St Kevin’s defence very solid. Throughout the entire second half St. Kevin’s had a goal and a point while their opponents had just three points. Eoin Carey and Aaron Hegarty (free) cut the lead to a goal midway through the half.

In the 2lst minute Shane Buckley soloed through the heart of the Kilara Og defence and scored a great goal that opened up a 2 goal lead 3-6 to 16. Kilara battled hard to the end but they had only more score a point by Eoin Carey.
