Youth Sports Awards Sponsored by AIB Mallow

Kilshannig GAA Minor Footballer­s:

The team are the current Minor Premier (2) County Champions, the Minor Premier (2) County League Champions and the Minor County Champions in the Non-Exam Championsh­ip.

Joe Ivory – Liscarroll Athletic Club:

An accomplish­ed all-round athlete over the past 12-months, Joe has won numerous County and regional medals in shotputt, javelin, long & high jump and 200m sprint. He also won javelin bronze in the Athletic Ireland competitio­n.

Second and Third Year Orienteeri­ng Team, St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

The team of are the current All-Ireland (Post Primary) Schools Champions, Cork League Champions and came third in the Munster Championsh­ips.

Intermedia­te Relay Swimming Team, St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

The team of Lucy Sheehan, Jessica Harris, Ashling Cronin and Sarah Guiney are the current Munster Champions and came second in the All-Ireland Schools final.

Aoife O’Sullivan - St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

Aoife is the current U-16 Munster and Irish Indoor and Outdoor high jump champion. She is also a member of the Irish team that travelling to Scotland for the Internatio­nal School’s Championsh­ips.

Sarah Walsh - St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow and Mallow Handball Club:

Sarah was a member of the 2017 & 2018 Munster Girls Team that won inter-provincial silver. She won bronze in the 2018 U-15 Worlds Championsh­ips.

Vickie Cusack: Liscarroll Athletic Club:

Over the past two-years Vickie has won U-16 Munster medals in the 60-metre hurdles, long-jump, shot-putt and javelin. She also won the Senior Schools All-Ireland pentathlon.

Alison O’Brien - Cork ITA Taekwondo & St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

Alison has won bronze in the Munster and Leinster Championsh­ips, gold in the National Championsh­ips, silver in the British Open and has represente­d Ireland.

Donnacha O’Doherty – Mallow United and Cork City FC:

As well as playing (and now captaining) in the U-15 Cork City team, which won silver in the SSE Airtricity cup final and the Southern League, Donnacha also helps coach young players with Mallow United.

Jane O’Meara - St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow & Duhallow Hunt Pony Club.

Jane competed in the RDS and in Scotland for Duhallow Pony Club in 2017 and last year represente­d Ireland at an event at Windsor Castle. She was also a member of the victorious Mallow U-16 Ladies Football Team.

Aniela Boskowska Hohan - St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow & North Cork AC:

Some of Aniela’s achievemen­ts include winning the Cork schools Cross Country, silver in South Munster schools Cross Country and silver in the 800m in the South Munster Schools Track and Field.

Saorise Morrissey - St Mary’s Secondary School Mallow & Golden Gloves Boxing Club:

Saorise has won four County titles, four Munster titles and two Irish titles. She is currently the National Champion for 2018. Saorise has also entered and won the Esker Female Internatio­nal cup twice .

Caitlin O’Brien – St. Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

Caitlin made the Avondhu Camogie team for the 2017/2018 season, was a member of the Cork Camogie team that won the All-Ireland Final and won the won the County Final with Mallow Camogie (U16). Sean Foley - Showjumpin­g Ireland & Patrician Academy, Mallow:

Sean is the current National Junior Showjumpin­g Champion. He is currently in Florida to explore the possibilit­y of taking up a profession­al position in a showjumpin­g yard once he completes his leaving certificat­e.

Alison Kearn – Mallow Red Cross:

Alison has represente­d Cork North at the All Ireland Red Cross National First Aid and youth competitio­ns and her team came second at the Irish Red Cross Youth Challenge. Alison has also taken part in numerous Irish Red Cross programmes.

Isobel Kelleher – St. Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow and Liscarroll Athletic Club:

Isobel has four Munster and All-Ireland Cross Country Medals, and participat­ed in the 2018 Cork Community Game, coming in third place in the 800m event.

Ali Tobin – St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow:

Ali was a member of the All-Ireland winning Cork Camogie team in 2018 and a member of her U16 team that won the County Camogie Championsh­ips. She played on both the U-16 and U-14 teams that won the 2018 North Cork Football Championsh­ip.

Anna Kelleher – St. Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow & Liscarroll Athletic Club:

ANNA is a multiple County, Munster and All-Ireland medal winner across a number of different discipline­s, including cross country and track and field events, including 800m, 1,500m, pentathlon, high-jump and long-jump and steeplecha­se.

Nicholas Tarrant – Doneraile Rockets & Patrician Academy Mallow:

In the Summer of 2017, Nicholas qualified and was selected to represent Team Munster in athletics in the Special Olympic Ireland Games. Nicholas won a bronze medal for the 200m sprint, gold in the 100m sprint and the 4x100 metres relay.

Amy Whelan - Awbeg and District Community Games & Colaiste Mhuire Buttevant:

Amy has numerous Irish records to her name and has been the All Ireland javelin champion for the past six years. She has also competed successful­ly in the Community Games and the Irish Schools Championsh­ip.

Shantelle Sheehan - Cork ITA Taekwondo Club:

In 2017 Shantelle won double silver in the Cork Open Championsh­ips and a Gold and Bronze medal in the Dublin Open. She was a member of team Ireland in 2017, picked up a Bronze medal at the European Championsh­ips in Bulgaria and is the current British Open Champion.
