While Charisma Fashions can be found all over the world, at the touch of a button, proprietor Maria Connolly is keenly aware that it’s her local customers that the success of her business is founded upon.

After all, it was to offer local people – in Charleville and later Kanturk – top quality fashions at affordable prices that inspired her to set up Charisma Fashions in the first place.

“I cannot thank the people of Charleville, Kanturk and the wider area enough,” says Maria. “It is ordinary local people I have to thank for being in business for the past 25 years, they have literally kept the roof over my head.”

Of course, it’s a mutually beneficial relationship: Maria works hard to keep the ladies of the region looking their best and, in turn, the ladies are always drawn back to Charisma Fashions when they are looking to add to their wardrobes.

“I am a great believer in the personal touch,” says Maria, “and by getting to know the customer I can tailor what the shop offer to their needs. It’s an ongoing relationship that is always developing and changing. Responding to customers’ desires is a major part of what makes working in the fashion industry so great for me.”

The business community of the region also offers more opportunity for Maria to grow Charisma Fashions, through business networks and the North Cork Local Enterprise Office. “In recent years I have become a lot more involved in business networking and I have gotten great support, encouragement and inspiration from these groups,” says Maria.
