Catherine Blake

The death occurred on February 24 at Marymount Hospice, Cork, of Catherine (Kit) Blake (née Nagle), 4 Tearmann Uí Chaoimh, Mitchelsto­wn, and formerly of Glanworth and Corrogurm.

The late Kit was predecease­d by her husband, Mick.

She was a popular member of the local community. There was a large attendance at the Removal on Monday evening from the Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street, to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Tuesday.

Interment took place to Kilcrumper Old Cemetery.

To her sisters, Joan (Burke), Bridie (Murray), Alice (O’Mahony), Ann (McCarthy), and Helen (Meek); brother, Denis; brothers-in-law; nephews; nieces; grandnephe­ws; grandniece­s; relatives; neighbours and friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Eileen Whelan

The death occurred on February 26 at Abbeylands Nursing Home, Kildorrery, of Eileen Whelan, Ballinamon­a, Mitchelsto­wn, after a short illness.

The late Eileen (née Casey) was very well known and was President of Mitchelsto­wn Credit Union.

She was deeply involved with St Vincent de Paul and Fermoy Hospital over the years.

Her popularity was borne out in the very large and represente­d attendance that were present for her Funeral on Thursday evening in the Chapel of Rest, Baldwin Street.

This was also the case at the Requiem Mass and burial on Friday.

Members of the Credit Union formed a guard of honour.

Nora Whelan (née O’Sullivan)

The death occurred on February 25 at St Patrick’s Community Hospital, Fermoy, of Nora Whelan (née O’Sullivan), 8 Barry Park, Glanworth.

The late Nora was in her 94th year and was predecease­d by her husband, Ned.

She was a popular member of the local community.

There was a large and represente­d attendance at the removal from the Chapel of Rest, Mitchelsto­wn, on Tuesday to Holy Cross Church, Glanworth.

There was also a very fine attendance at the Requiem Mass and burial on Wednesday.

Interment took place to Glanworth Old Cemetery.

To her daughters, Betty (O’Sullivan); Mary (Cunningham); and Susan (Perfect); sons, Thomas, John, Eddie, Jimmy and Paddy; sons-in -law; daughters-in-law; grandchild­ren; great-grandchild­ren; nephews; nieces; relatives; neighbours; and friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.

Jack Roche-Murphy

The death occurred on February 26 at his residence in Glenduff, Mitchelsto­wn, of Jack Roche-Murphy.

The late Jack was 12-yearsold had a protracted illness for a number of years.

He was a member of a very popular family in the area. There were large numbers attending the family home on Thursday evening for his Funeral. This was also the case at the Requiem Mass in Mitchelsto­wn Church and burial on Friday.

Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery.

To his parents, Charlene and Gerard; sisters Lily and Lucy; brother, Robbie; grandparen­ts, Maura and Sean Roche, John Murphy; great-grandmothe­r Catherine Kenneally; aunts, Clare, Nicki, Lisa Trina; uncles, Jonathan, Barry and Christy; grandaunts; granduncle­s; cousins; aunts-in-law; unclesin-law; relatives; neighbours; and many friends, we tender our sincere sympathy.
