A RANGE of works have been announced for Newmarket, with €15,000 going towards a portable stage for the local community centre, Cork County Councillor Gerard Murphy has said.

The development follows co-operation between Cork County Council and the Local Community Development Company.

The portable-stage project is the largest of those announced, though €10,000 will also go to the upgrade of West End Park walkways.

A footpath programme will see works taking place on sections of High Street; sections of Charleville Road; and a section of Orchard Avenue

The areas of Killowen, Commons, Curraduff, Glenlara, and Mountkeefe are also set to benefit from a roads restoration maintenance programme that has been announced.

The Newmarket Town Fund will benefit from €17,000, with €400 recommended for St Patrick’s Day parade.

An extension of public lighting will also take place along the new footpath on Lower Road, Newmarket. office this year.

The vintage cars and other attractions will line up on the Clonfert Road, and the participating groups, individuals and floats will line up on the Coolagh Road outside the boys school.

The vintage cars and floats will continue over Church Street, and the walking groups will turn left onto Scarteen Street, where they will disperse.

Make sure to wrap up warm as organisers can only plan the parade and, sadly, cannot control the elements.

There will be trophies for the Best Window, Best Float, Best Vintage Car, Best Adult Costume and Best Juvenile Costume.

Please come out to support, and decorate Newmarket green, white and orange.

Good luck to everyone!
