- BILL BROWNE

STAFF of the Bartlemy-based company Television Mobiles Ltd (TVM), which broadcasts footage from sporting and music events across the world, were in ‘seventh heaven’ after it retained its coveted position as one of the country’s most efficiently run companies.

The family run company has been elevated from gold to platinum status after scooping a prestigious ‘Best Managed’ award at the 2019 Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards for the seventh year in succession.

Established in 1986 by Helen and her husband Batt, TVM has grown into one of Ireland’s largest and most successful outside broadcasting companies, with a list of prestigious clients including Sky, BBC, RTE, TG4, Setanta and TV3.

The range and scope of the events TVM has covered over the years is as varied as it is impressive, with sporting highlights including international soccer friendlies, the Heineken Cup, The British Golf Open, horse races including the Derby, the Oaks and GAA matches.

The company has also covered a myriad of other headline events for television including the visits of Queen Elizabeth and Barak Obama, music festivals in Ireland and the UK, the IFTA’s and the BBC Radio 1 ‘Big Weekend’.

The award has topped off what was a very busy 2018 for the company which covered a number of high-profile outside broadcasts over the course of the year including the Pope’s visit to Ireland, the Ed Sheeran concerts, Other voices, Ireland’s Fittest Families, the Today Show and political party conferences.

Sporting events it covered during the year included the All-Ireland hurling and football championships, the Six-Nations rugby, the Euro 2020 draw, and the Open Golf Championship.

Batt Arnold, the CEO of TVM said he and all of the staff at the company were thrilled to have won the award for the seventh time.

“The process is a rigorous one that examines every facet of the organisation, independently evaluating the calibre of management abilities and practices,” said Mr Arnold.

The platinum awards is testament to the fantastic people that make up our wonderful team, delivering hours of programming with commitment, focus and passion each week,” he said.

Anya Cummins of Deloitte said it was a magnificent achievement for EPS.

“The Best Managed Companies process is a rigorous and the bar is set very high,” said Ms Cummins.

She said the spread of companies from across the country and across a range of industries underlined the importance of Irish and Northern Irish Companies to the economy.

“In the midst of economic uncertainty, technology disruption, an open competitive market and full employment, the continued strong performance of companies such as TVM is admirable. In the current environment, it is important for these contributions to be recognised, supported and showcased,” she added.
