Wellness Week works out well at Coláiste Treasa

-

LAST week was an extremely busy one for the First Year Students of Coláiste Treasa as they took part in a Wellness Week that focused on mental and physical well being.

Health and Fitness Ireland kicked off the weeks activities with a work shop on both mental and physical exercises with specific emphasis on exercise training.

Former Cork footballer Deirdre O’ Reilly, presented a yoga workshop while the students also had a nutrition talk and cookery demonstration from Matthew Collins. This demonstration focused on healthy, easily prepared lunches.

Gobnait Herlihy of Duane’s Pharmacy spoke to all First Students on the importance of skin care and correct make up application.

Dr. Zelie Daly spoke to the First Year classes on the importance of healthy eating and exercise, with the focus on disease prevention rather than cure.

On Thursday a very exciting and entertaining sports activity evening organized by PE teacher Miss Stack proved to be very popular with the students.

Ray Langan presented a Motivational Workshop on Friday, the main focus of this workshop was on study skills and exam preparation.

The week concluded with a Cookery demonstration from Hazel Burke with emphasis on healthy easily prepared food.

All in all it proved to be a hugely successful and beneficial week for all students.

... And a busy Engineers Week

WELL done to all of the Colaiste Treasa students that took part in the various activities that were organized to mark “Engineers week 2019”.

The 1st year students were asked to make a replica model of an iconic structure from anywhere in the world. This model had to be made from card, lollipop sticks, paper , string and glue.

The 2nd year students were asked to make a replica model of any wellknown bridge, again the constraints to be observed were the same as the 1st yr competition.

Transition Year students and 5th yr students were asked to design and make a cardboard stool that would hold their own weight.

A big Thank you to Blackwater Engineering who sponsored the prizes for all of the competitions.
