Committed to supporting farmers and agri business

IN North Cork, Bank of Ireland are committed to supporting farmers and agri business.

We place our business at the heart of yours and we go the extra mile to gain a deeper understanding of how we can support farmers into the future.

“Bank of Ireland North Cork has a dedicated mobile team available to meet with farmers either in a Branch or out in the farmyard. I manage the four branches of Mallow, Charleville, Kanturk and Millstreet and we have a team of experienced advisers available to meet with customers at a time and place that is convenient for the customer,” Sinead Corkery, North Cork Manager advises.

As part of the team, James Sheehy and Kieran Cahill are our business advisers in North Cork and are both very experienced in the agri sector. Shane Anglim, our North Cork SME Lending Manager, has worked in the area for many years and is highly experienced in the agri sector. Pat Byrnes is our Regional Agri Development Manager and would also be well known to many within this sector.

We are very aware of the impact of the weather conditions experienced by farmers during the Summer of 2018 and the effect of this on cashflow into 2019. We would encourage our customer to talk to us should they need an extension of overdraft limits, provision of working capital or postponement of loan repayments via our Agri Flex proposition.

“Given our location, a significant portion of our customer base is agri and we need to be very aware of the issues facing the agri sector at the moment. From meeting with our customers we see day to day the issues that farmers are encountering in terms of expansion, volatility of milk prices and Brexit. We also understand that a lot of farmers are going through their busiest time of the year on the farm and are focusing all of their energy into calving at the moment but if they have any banking requirements we are happy to call to them”.

Sinead advises: “We are also meeting a lot of farmers who are planning farm development for 2019 and into 2020. We meet with our customers and advise them of the process of applying for the loan. The information which we require for processing a loan will depend on the scale of farm development. However, generally we will require the last 3 years financial accounts, details of ICBF co-op performance and milk deliveries reports.

“Our team can meet in any Branch that is closest to the customer or out on the farm also. It’s great to be able to visit customers at their farm as you can see the day to day running of the operation and get a great sense of the farmers’ plans for their specific farm type.

“I would ask any farmer, both customers and non customers, to come and talk to us for any of their requirements. We can talk farmers through the process and give them advice around the financial needs of their specific business”.
