Farmers and land-owners play a huge role

At Mid Western Forestry we have been providing forestry services to the farmers and landowners in the south-west region since 1995.

We have seen huge strides in the forestry industry since the business set up. With continued support and increased incentives over the years through grants and premiums, the Department of Agriculture are totally committed to the creation of new forests and the development of existing ones by providing funds to help mobilise the timber ready to come on to the market.

The continued funding has helped Mid Western Forestry grow our farmer/landowner clientele over the years. Without the farmers and landowners we as a company and an industry would not be where we are today as they provide the main ingredient – land.

We would invite more farmers and landowners to explore the possibility of planting some of their land. Forestry is a real option to explore on your farm. Premiums of up to €275 per acre for up to 15 years along with being able to draw your basic farm payment on the same ground can be obtained on your land making it a very attractive farm enterprise.

We would like to continue our link with local farmers to carry on growing this vibrant industry. Mid Western Forestry employ local contractors with years of experience in the establishment and maintenance of forestry plantations. It is our aim to continue to use these local resources. We also provide road building, thinning and clearfell services to farmers/ landowners who are at the harvesting stage.
