This Thursday, March 14, is fashion show night in the Pearse Memorial Hall which commences with a cheese and wine reception at 7pm with the show itself underway at 7.30pm.

This is a fund-raiser for the hall itself and your support will be appreciate­d. Tickets cost €10 and are available at the Post Office and will all so be available at the door on the night.

SCÓR

Congrats to the Scór na bPáistí figure dancers who took first in the County Finals at Ovens at the weekend and to Aoife O’Riordan who won the solo singing.

Congrats also to Gavin Daly who was runner-up in the solo dance and to the set dancers who also finished in second place.

However, all were later honoured along with their mentors and parents when it was announced that Boherbue were the last overall club in the county plus the best overall club in Scór which includes Scór Sinsir, Na nÓg and na bPáistí.

This is an award they have won for a number of years, an achievemen­t that takes a lot of input and work and full credit and thanks to all involved.

COFFEE MORNING

Boherbue ICA hold a coffee morning in aid of Daffodil Day in the Pearse Memorial Hall on Friday, March 22 from 10am to 1pm.

This is always a very special occasion with lots of tasty cakes of all shapes and sizes and colours — you will have to taste them to really understand.

Its for a very worthy cause and your support will be greatly appreciate­d.

Also note, it is an official Lenten dispensati­on day! So you don’t have to feel guilty for indulging and giving your sweet tooth a day out.

Boherbue players were successful with Cork at the weekend in the Munster team finals played at Ballydesmo­nd, Conna, Liscarroll and Boherbue.

Tomas O’Connor was on the winning u12 team, Evan Enright and Cathal Ducey were on the winning u16-u17 side while Donal Murphy, Daragh Moynihan and Shane O’Riordan won silver in the u-14-u15 team.

On Sunday at Ballydesmo­nd, Cormac O’Shea and Eoghan Moynihan won the u12 County B doubles with Donal Murphy and Darragh Moynihan winning the u15 doubles.

Congrats and well done to all involved. our athletes will be able to avail of this session and we earnestly encourage everyone to avail of it.

SYMPATHY – The sympathy of the officers and members of the club is extended to the family, relatives and friends of the late Tadhg Brosnan, Coolbane, Liscarroll, who died tragically last week. To his wife Ita, family, Marie, Mairéad, Sarah, Therese, Jacinta and Emma, many relatives and friends, we extend sincerest sympathy. May he rest in peace.

TRAINING – Athletes thinking of doing well in upcoming competitio­ns will have to commit more to regular training, especially those in sprints and throws. Sessions are on the usual nights, it Fridays in Charlevill­e 6.30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays in Liscarroll 6.30-7.30. Thursdays for Little Athletics in Liscarroll 6.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Other training sessions for long jump, have been arranged for Sunday mornings. This weekend it will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. As soon as the clocks go forward, we will be able to arrange shot put, discus and javelin on the Monday nights.

REGISTRATI­ONS – Most of those turning up at training are registered, but there are a few that need reminding. Being registered is not collecting money for the club, it is to register a person with the Athletics Associatio­n of Ireland and to insure them against accidents.

KNOCKNAGRE­E PARADE

The Knocknagre­e community are invited to dress up warm, and in their green, for their St Patrick’s Day parade on Sunday, March 17.

A team of community volunteers united to initiate the event last year and the parade proved an unqualifie­d success, little surprise, it followed soon after Knocknagre­e’s memorable triumph in the All Ireland Junior A Football Championsh­ip in Croke Park.

Again, a snapshot of Knocknagre­e life will be showcased on Sunday week as local groups, clubs and organisati­ons proudly march in the parade.

Patrons are expected to drop in from both sides of the county bounds, kick off follows 10am Mass.
