Funding for community arts in County Cork

-

CORK County Council has announced details of two new schemes to support the arts in the community.

These are the 2019 Creative Ireland County Cork Grant Scheme and Creative Ireland County Cork Pop-up Shop Scheme 2019, both funded by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.

Collaboration is at the heart of the Creative Ireland Programme and these funding schemes recognize the value of the community sector to County Cork’s culture and well-being. The Grant Scheme aims to support communities in undertaking projects and events that are in keeping with any of the Creative Ireland Programme strands as well as the priorities set out in the County Cork Culture and Creativity Strategy, in addition to initiatives that will generate awareness of the Creative Ireland Programme as a whole.

The Pop-up Shop Grant Scheme is geared at promoting a wide range of activities and is also intended to support a number of festival events throughout the County. Proposals under the Pop-up Shops Scheme can be submitted at any stage in 2019; however, only a limited amount of funding has been set aside for the scheme so applicants are encouraged to act quickly.

Consideration will also be given to events that are being undertaken for the national day of culture and youth – Cruinniú na nÓg – taking place on Saturday, June 15.

The closing date for applications under the Creative Ireland County Cork Grant Scheme is 12noon on Friday, April 12, to Conor Nelligan, Creative Ireland Coordinator, Cork County Council, Floor 3, County Hall, Cork or by email to conor.nelligan@corkcoco.ie.
