Up For The Match night ahead of Academy’s tilt at All-Ireland title
ON Saturday, March 30 the Patrician Academy Senior footballers will contest the Dr. Ramon O’Sullivan Cup All Ireland C Colleges Football Final sponsored by Masita Sports against St. Paul’s Oughterard, Galway.
This is the first time an Academy team has progressed to an All Ireland decider and to mark this special occasion the school are holding an Up For The Match event on Wednesday, March 27 in the Hibernian Hotel in Mallow commencing at 8pm. The MC for the night will be Matt O’Callaghan, GAA correspondent with the Mallow Star and Radio Limerick GAA commentator.
Matt will be accompanied by Academy teacher Pat Heffernan with the night being broken into four sections with three special guests. The special guests are past pupil Ray Carey, Clyda and All Ireland senior football winner with Cork in 2010; current Cork Senior panellists Matty Taylor and Killian O’Hanlon, who are also past pupils of the school.
Team management Eoin O’Carroll and Derek O’Brien will be joined on stage by Ms Elaine O’Regan, principal of the Academy.
Other guests will include John Arnold, GAA historian, former pupil and GAA journalist and author with the Sunday Times Michael Foley, and Cork Colleges GAA chairman Ed Cronin, principal of St Fanahan’s College, Mitchelstown.

The Mallow team have overcome St Michael’s College Listowel, Douglas Community School, PBC, Newcastlewest, St. Augustines, Dungarvan and Ballymahon. The Mallow school also qualified for the Simcox final in the Premier section against Rochestown.
