Kanturk push Rockies to edge

-

Blackrock 1-15 Kanturk 0-16

KANTURK conceded home advantage yet they came ever so close to incur a two point defeat by Blackrock in the County Senior Hurling League played at Mahon.

From one of those evenly matched games that could had gone either way, Blackrock were made to work but a goal from Alan Connolly soon after the restart swung the outcome. Windy conditions and showers greeted the sides, Kanturk shading the opening half with Lorcan O’Neill Lorcan McLoughlin and Liam O’Keeffe to the fore to enjoy a 0-6 to 0-5 advantage at the break.

The second half had barely started when Connolly found the back of the net for a Rockies goal. This score was to prove the difference between the sides for the remainder of the game and even though Blackrock pulled ahead by four points midway through the half, Kanturk kept up the pressure with scores from O’Keeffe and McLoughlin.

In an exciting finish, Kanturk might well had saved the day only for Blackrock ‘keeper David O’Shea pull off a fantastic save to deny the visitors a winning score.
