Mitchelsto­wn CBS 1-11 Pobal Scoil Bantry 0-6

MITCHELSTO­WN CBS were deserving winners over Pobal Scoil Bantry in the Cork Colleges Senior C FC semi-final at the 4G Pitch in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Wednesday. The West Cork side were aided by the cross wind in the opening half. CBS opened with an early point when Aaron O’Brien put Jake Buckley through. A foul on Tomas Vaughan led to a pointed free by Christy English.

The Mitchelsto­wn side continued to do well and they led all through. Christy English added another pointed free. Bantry had to wait till the 11th minute for their first score when Shane Crowley pointed. Christy English added another free. CBS goalkeeper Kieran Macken saved well from Ryan O’Sullivan. In the 17th minute Shane Murray soloed through and kicked a long range point.

CBS half backs of Dean Finn, Dylan Connolly and Seamus Coleman defended very well holding the Bantry attack at bay. In the 20th minute good play by Dylan Connolly and Christy English led to a well taken point by Aaron O’Brien. David Hunter placed Timmy O’Sullivan who made it 0-6 to 0-2. Pobal Scoil had two late points by Ryan O’Sullivan and Sean O’Sullivan (free) as the lead was down to 3 points at the break 0-6 to 0-3.

The Bantry challenge wind assisted in the second half did not materializ­e. CBS had the opening point by Jake Buckley after good play by Kieran Macken, Aaron O’Brien, Mattie Walsh-O’Grady and Sean Cunningham. Mattie Walsh-O’Grady made some great clearances. CBS had their goal in the 37th minute when Christy English and Jake Buckley worked well for Tomas Vaughan who goaled. Bantry had two quick fire points by Eoin O’Donovan and Sean O’Sullivan (free) 1-7 to 0-6.

The Carbery side failed to score for the remainder of the game with CBS doing well against the wind. They added four points on the trot by Tomas Vaughan (2) Sean Cunningham and Jake Buckley as they comfortabl­y advanced to a county final with Boherbue Comprehens­ive.
