Kilshannig through to U-21 A final

REIGNING Under-21 A FC champions Kilshannig are through to this years final after they survived a strong second half challenge by Charlevill­e on Saturday in Mallow. The Glantane side dominated the opening half leading all through.

Impressive Colm O’Shea opened with an early point and the same player set up the outstandin­g Darragh O’Sullivan for a great point. O’Sullivan had his 2nd point in the 8th minute after good play by Kieran Twomey. Further pressure saw James O’Hanlon work well for David Kearney but his effort was well saved by Jesse Smith. Darragh O’Sullivan added another fine point at the end of the first quarter 0-4 to 0-0.

Charlevill­e had a point in the 17th minute when Joey Herbert worked well for Jack Doyle who kicked over. Kilshannig replied with two points by Kieran Twomey one from a free. In the 28th minute Jack Kearney combined with Barry O’Shea who kicked a great goal. In injury time Kilshannig added another pointed free that had them 1-7 to 0-1 clear at the break.

On the changeover Charlevill­e were a different side. They dominated the third quarter and came within three points in the closing moments.

Kilshannig had a point by Tony Brennan. Tim Hawe pointed for the Rathluirc side with Jack Kearney making it 1-9 to 0-2. Jack Callaghan came very strong and he scored three points with Cillian Dore having a well taken goal but Kilshannig held out for the win and will meet the winner of Mitchelsto­wn v Charlevill­e in the final.
