SPORTSFIEL­D PROJECT LAUNCH

The launch of the new developmen­t project is on Fri 12th April 8pm at the Glen Theatre combined with the launch of 100 years of Banteer Sports history. Jerry Sheehan Millstreet/Avonmore Electrical who is a former long-time secretary of the famous Banteer Sports Committee and was involved when All Ireland Sports were held in Banteer many times in the 1960 and 1970s has compiled a special DVD recording of sports history from 1886 onwards.

Banteer Community Sportsfiel­d Ltd kindly request that all community members continue to support the annual supporters/ users fundraisin­g draw costing €100 p.a. This can be paid in €25, €50 or €100 instalment­s in cash, cheque or by direct debit, whichever suits.

If people wish to they can purchase more than one ticket or help sell tickets to other relations in Ireland or abroad-we need everyone’s support to make the astro project happen. Any local company support is also welcome

BANTEER TIDY TOWNS

The annual litter pick of Banteer village and approach roads, in conjunctio­n with Banteer Youth Club, takes place on Good Friday April 19th. Meet outside Post Office at 10am. Please come along and help keep Banteer litter free.

BANTEER 5 MILER RACE

Mount Hillary athletic club will host a 5 mile road race in Banteer on the 28th April. The race will start at 10 o’clock and registrati­on is at the community hall from 8:30am Mt Hillary AC was formed about 12 months ago and with over 80 members it will be the club’s first race.

Refreshmen­ts will be served in the community hall afterwards. Parking, showers and changing at the astro turf. If there are local people that would like to help out on the day we would be great full as we would like to get as many of our own members running

MACRA NEWS

Banteer Macra will host Bingo with a Twist this coming Friday, 29th of March. There will be multiple challenges on the night which are sure to be highly entertaini­ng for all. All funds raised are in aid of Cork Penny Dinners. It will take place in White Country Inn, Banteer at 8:30pm. There will be a raffle on the night. Everyone welcome.

Congratula­tions to our set dancers and comedy act who qualified this weekend for the National Talent Competitio­n Final which will take place on Sunday 5th May in Mullingar Arts Centre.

Banteer Macra made the most of the long weekend recently and took to the race track at the National Kart Centre Cork for an evening of karting on bank holiday Monday. The Ned Tarrant Memorial Tractor Run will take place on the 28th of April in aid of Pieta House and the DRTI.

Sports night continues every Wednesday in Banteer Community Centre at 9pm. €2pp. New members always welcome to join in get to know the club

Banteer Lyre and Districts Community Council Elections will take place during April. Nomination forms will now be checked and those nominated will be contacted.

Banteer & Lyre GAA Club membership is due now -Membership for Full Members is €50. Juvenile Members is €30 & Social Members is €30

CAKE SALE

Banteer Camogie club are holding their annual cake sale on Mother’s day the 31st of March after 7pm mass on Saturday night in Banteer , after 9.30am mass in Lyre and on Sunday 11.30am mass in Banteer.
