Amazing art goes on display at the Millstreet Library
THE Millstreet Active Retirement Association showcased a fascinating art exhibition that coincided with the annual Duhallow Bealtaine Festival
A formal launch in Millstreet Library drew a representative attendance, with the many fantastic exhibits depicting local landmarks and nature meeting with unanimous approval.
Officially opening the exhibition IRD Duhallow manager Maura Walsh congratulated the group and praised the creative talents of its members who are involved in a wide variety of diverse projects.
“The amount of activities undertaken by this Active Retirement Group, which is drawn from Millstreet and the surrounding area, is phenomenal and includes dancing, yoga, art and now indoor bowling,” said Ms Walsh.
“Undertaking such a wide variety of recreational activities, and introducing new ones, is the secret to maintaining interest. That is very much in evidence through this art exhibition, which represents the culmination of many nights work by members,” she added.
Association chair Annabelle O’Sullivan expressed delight on the its contribution to the Bealtaine Festival, thanking the efforts of tutor Mary Sheehan, Grace Tangey and Millstreet Library for helping to stage the exhibition.
“Our artists enjoy painting and this exhibition is a direct result of that interest and passion. We salute the participants on putting colour into life through the magnificent exhibits on display”, said Annabelle.
