Belarus night a great success

-

A GREAT crowd turned up on the Monday, April 29 to support the group of local men who are travelling out to Belarus as volunteers to carry out work at an orphanage.

They want to thank all the people that turned up on the night for the dance and kept the floor full nearly the whole night which was quiet easy to do so because of the great music provided by the two great bands - Dave Rea from Blarney and PJ Murrihy from Mullagh, Co. Clare who gave up there time free for the night which was very much appreciated by the charity group.

They also want to thank George and Geraldine, the proprieters of the Hasel Tree, for their premises for the night and also all their help that made it all run so smoothly on the night.

Liam Daly of Newtwopothouse gave his time free to run two DVD’s on his projector equipment which showed the work carried out in Belarus back in the 2016 and 2017 Projects. These DVD’s illustrated how the work is carried out in Belarus, and it also shows the difficult conditions that are out there and you can also see where the funds get spent and the different types of building materials that are used in Belarus.

This year’s project is in a orphanage called Singenchovia, which consists of a renovation of six dormitorie which have six beds in each and a retiling and plumbing of a large wet room. This orphanage is located out in a forest area 18 miles from the nearest shop so a mobile vanshop calls around once a week to the area. This group will leave on a ten day trip on May 30.

We wish them well.
