Kilshannig 3-24 Ballyclough 0-4

THIS JAFC was very one sided at Mallow on Sunday evening. The better balanced Kilshannig side who won the Divisional U-21 AFC titles of 2018 and 2019 were well in control from the start. They opened with a goal after 30 seconds when Eanna O’Hanlon put Conor McMahon through for a goal.

The Glantane side gained control in the half backline and midfield sectors and their forwards in regular supply kicked some very good points. By the 9th minute they led 1-3 to 0-0 and by the 12th minute Kieran Twomey and Eanna O’Hanlon (free) moved them 1-5 clear.

Kilshannig used the short passing at speed to great effect and a series of points by Darragh O’Sullivan, Killian O’Hanlon, Kieran Twomey and Conor McMahon had them ahead 1-9 to 0-0 after 23 minutes. Four more points without reply had Kilshannig 1-13 to 0-0 ahead after 28 minutes. Ballyclough had two late points by Thomas O’Neill 1-13 to 0-2 at the break.

The trend was much the same on the resumption. Eanna O’Hanlon and Eoin O’Sullivan had early points before Darragh O’Sullivan and Jack Twomey combined well for Conor McMahon who scored his second goal 2-15 to 0-2. Good play by Dylan Finnegan led to Ballyclough’s lst score of the second half in the 44th minute by Damian Buckley.

Kilshannig continued adding nine more points with Darragh O’Sullivan having a goal in the 56th minute. Ballyclough battled to the end and Timmy Hennessy had the last score in the 59th minute.
