All together for Enterprise Town ‘judgement day’
NEWMARKET is a finalist in this year’s Bank of Ireland National Enterprise Town Awards and is the only town in Cork in its category (towns with less than 2,000 residents) to reach this final stage.
These awards recognise and reward towns where businesses and the community have come together to showcase the spirit of enterprise in their local area.
Judges will visit Newmarket on the morning of September 9 and will spend three hours in our town.
Newmarket has a resilient community that has focused on unique solutions to bring life into the town and serve the population. The Newmarket area has punched far above its weight in terms of the reach of its businesses, services and industries. It has developed as a unique hub in terms of health care, industry, services and commerce and rural development.
We will be hosting an exhibition showcasing some of our businesses in a specially erected marquee in the James O’Keeffe Institute on the week commencing September 9; all are welcome and encouraged to attend.
A total of 10 Cork entries are competing against towns from across the country that have been nominated by local authorities and their Local Enterprise Offices or recommended by the public. The judging process will cover a wide range of areas including local enterprise initiatives, attractiveness of the town, enterprise partnerships, town leadership, overall community support as well as efforts to foster better inclusion and diversity.
