Good run for Kanturk in Mossie Linnane Cup

Mossie Linnane League Cup, Kanturk 7, Rathcoole 4.

KANTURK got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a comfortabl­e win against an understren­gth Rathcoole side.

A game which had more of a pre-season friendly feel to it wasn’t full of quality play but Kanturk did enough to ease to victory and keep their hopes of qualifying for the quarter final alive.

Goalscorer­s for Kanturk were John Dennehy (2) Martin O’Riordan (2) Nathan Healy, Ian Guiry and Gavin Keenehan.

Best for Kanturk on the day were Martin O’Riordan, Nathan Healy and Josh O’Connor, who continues to impress.

Next up for Kanturk, Waterloo away on Sunday where a win could be enough to qualify for the quarter finals.

Kanturk U13 4, Everton 0.

Kanturk played their first league match at home on Saturday 31st Vs Everton in good dry conditions.

Both sides started strongly and there was very little between the two sides and it finished all square at half time.

Kanturk started the second half the stronger team and had all the chances. Ten minutes in and Donnacha O’Leary went past two defenders to give Kanturk a deserved lead. This lifted Kanturk and it wasn’t long before Christophe­r Byrnes found the net with an unstoppabl­e shot into the top corner.

Kanturk well in control of the match now and Mathew O’Gorman and Naglis Vaivada added one more each for a final score of 4-0.

All credit to the back four and keeper Danny Cronin for keeping a clean sheet for their first league match back. Best for Kanturk, Donnacha O’Leary, Christophe­r Byrnes and Marc Watson.

Mossie Linnane League Cup: Waterloo 1-2 Kanturk.

Kanturk progressed to the quarter finals of the Mossie Linnane league cup by finishing runners up in their group after a very hard fought win away to a strong Waterloo side.

A game of 2 halves with Kanturk dominating the first half and having to defend a lot more in the second. Kanturk led 2-0 at half time with 2 goals from the inform John Dennehy.

Waterloo scored a beautiful 30 yard strike late in the 2nd half but Kanturk defended well and held on for a deserved win. Best for Kanturk on the day were Damien Finn, Denis Finn and Jordan Fullerton.

Next up AOH Cup first round action as Kanturk welcome Watergrass­hill to Gurteenard next Saturday. Kick off 2.30pm.
