Golf classic – Killavullen GAA Club intend to host their second golf classic, following on from the considerable success of last year, by going back to Doneraile golf club again, on Saturday, September 14.
The beneficiary this time round will be the adult and juvenile teams where a huge emphasis is placed on coaching now, and that is starting to reap rewards. We have had success already this year at under-14, under-16 and minor level, and we are not finished yet. All of that cost money to provide.
Three players are required for a team, and the cost is €120, with a meal (and Desert). We seek to get a few players, both adult and juvenile, aunts/uncles/mother-inlaws and any relative of players, playing golf for us, or using their contacts to get some sponsorship for us, where opportunities are available for Tee’s and Green slots also.
Contact in the club organising the classic are: Joe Howard, Dave Brosnan, Eamonn Coakley, John O’Donovan or any committee member.
The format is three ball, best ball, and there are super prizes of Golf Outings to prestigious courses, Waterville, Fota and Castlemartyr. There is also prizes, for nearest the pin, and longest drives on selected holes, + a prize for the best non-Golfing Union of Ireland (GUI) team.

ALL IRELAND MINOR WINNERS – Congratulation to local players, Michael O’Neill from Buttevant and Conor Corbett from Clyda Rovers, who gave an exhibition of their considerable football prowess in Croke Park on Sunday last to propel Cork to the Al Ireland Minor football championship. In a thrilling game, both players were instrumental to the success. Daniel Linehan from Castlemagner, and the Patrician Academy in Mallow also featured prominently in the game, while Aaron O’Brien from Mitchelstown was the Cork substitute goal keeper.
It is fantastic to have very local representation on these big days in Croke Park, and then see these players up close in our own field, playing in the local minor championships with their own clubs.
