September sun shines for Carriganima run
THE popular Carriganima four mile Fun Run in support of Macroom and Millstreet Community Hospitals drew a positive response and glorious September sunshine added to the occasion.
Supporters came from both near and far in support of the popular staging and co-ordinator Jimmy Murphy expressed thanks to the participants.
“Many returned from previous stagings to join in the fun, soak up the atmosphere and support worthy causes. Everybody enjoyed the day and fun, the support very much appreciated in a great community effort and fantastic help,” said Jimmy.
“Again, it was a sundrenched occasion, we had a new route and participants enjoyed it”, he added.
On a splendid setting, patrons took a stroll, jogged or ran, enjoying the background scenery and the unspoilt countryside at its best. The fun run was started by Liam Roche, stewards were on hand to help patrons in addition to water stations in place to accommodate participants.
First across the line was Tadgh Manning representing West Muskerry with Tai Guiney (Millstreet AC), first lady home.
Once all finished, participants retired to the Carriganima Pub for refreshments and recap on another successful venture. All proceeds from the staging go towards Macroom and Millstreet District Hospitals.
