Busy night of events in Fermoy
A BUSY night has been planned for Fermoy on Culture Night, with many local groups coming together to create an exciting trail of events at venues across the town.
Highlights will include ‘Round the Fire Side’ an evening of poetry and music in Fermoy Library, live demos by artists at restaurants across the town, an exhibition by the Fermoy Camera Club at the AIB branch, performances by the Fermoy Concert Band and the Fermoy Intercultural Choir at the Resource Centre and an outdoor performance on Patrick Street by the Thomas Kent Pipe band, which this year is celebrating its 6oth anniversary.
The Blackwater Valley Arts Centre on Pearse Square will also open its doors between 6pm and 7.30pm for an evening of art, poetry, prose and music in the company of local artists Aidan O’Donoghue and Dave Gibbons.
Writer Aidan will read excerpts from his published works of poetry and prose, while songwriter and instrumentalist Dave will perform some of his own compositions.
Visitors will get the chance to see pieces by a collective of local artists based at the centre, which opened its doors to the public in March of this year, across a variety of mediums. For more about the centre visit www.blackwatervalleymakers.com
