MEMBERS of the KanturkStone Cycling Club were in ‘ top gear’ at the recent National Youth Cycling Championships in Mullingar, bringing an impressive haul of medals back to Duhallow.

In what was an outstanding display of commitment and team effort, the secured no less than 37 medals in addition to the prestigious under-12 National Championship trophy.

The haul added extra shine to what has already been, by any measure, landmark year for the club, with Tom Moriarty becoming the National Junior Road Race champion in June, Darragh O’Mahony winning the under-23 Road Championship and Eddie Dunbar taking the elite silver road medal.

Club chairman Pat Tarrant said all club members agreed this level of success would not have been possible without the coaching and leadership of Dan and Joan Curtin, who have led a huge number of cyclists to success over the years.

He also thanked Conor O’Leary for all his support over the years and had a special message for all the members of the club.

“Well done to you all, you are a great bunch of young people and you have done yourselves, your coach, your club and your families proud,” he said.
