Clyda too strong for Gaels

-

Clyda Rovers 3-13 Sliabh Luachra Gaels 2-4

A POSITIVE opening paved the way for Clyda Rovers to secure an impressive win over Sliabh Luachra Gaels in the Rebel Óg North Cork Phase 2 U12FL Final at Dromtariffe.

In doing so, the sheer quality of Clyda’s play during the opening half helped control matters in a masterly performance. In fairness, Sliabh Luachra fought gallantly after the break but it failed to overturn the arrears.

Clyda looked the more polished side at the outset, well worked moved yielded a run of points before Harry O’Rourke and Conor Murphy netted goals for a clear 2-7 to 0-1 advantage at the break. Sliabh Luachra improved on the restart only to concede a third Clyda goal from Conor McCarthy.

Sliabh Luachra plugged away, their efforts gained reward on scores from Cian Brosnan and Jack Buckley for the Ballydesmond and Kiskeam boys. However Clyda saw their task to a successful conclusion for team captain Michael O Keeffe accept the trophy.
