Mallow dig deep to see off combination

REBEL ÓG NORTH UNDER 16 FOOTBALL DIV 3 PLATE FINAL

Mallow 3-12 Liscarroll / Churchtown Gaels 3-11

MALLOW had a single point win over Liscarroll/Churchtown Gaels in the Rebel Óg North Under 16 football Division 3 Plate final at Charleville on Thursday evening.

Niall Carroll opened with an early point after good play by Trebor Erbahor. Gaels levelled when Oier O’Callaghan pointed. Mark Tobin with a pointed free was followed by an Andrew Lenighan point as Mallow led 0-3 to 0-1. Both sides exchanged points.

Gaels took the lead when Joelle Oromsaye goaled 1-3 to 0-4. Mallow replied with a Mark Tobin goal.

They were level 1-5 each after 26 minutes and at 1-6 apiece by half-time.

On the restart Mallow had early points by Ronan O’Sullivan, Mark Tobin and Trebor Erbahor. Gaels hit back with a point by Callum O’Callaghan with Oier O’Callaghan having a goal as the Gaels edged ahead 2-7 to 1- 9.

Seán Killeen stretched the lead with a pointed free. Mallow hit back for a goal by Mark Tobin as they moved 2-9 to 2-8 clear. Fionn Sheehan pointed.

Gaels forced a penalty when Seán Killeen was fouled.

Killeen goaled from the penalty and the Liscarroll / Churchtown side were ahead 3-8 to 2-10.

Mark Tobin levelled from a free. Josh Quinn and Seamie O’Callaghan had points for the Gaels. Mallow never gave up.

In the 55th minute Ronan O’Sullivan pointed.

They had a goal in the closing moments by Ronan O’Sullivan. Gaels had a late pointed free by Seán Killeen. Time ran out and Mallow were champions by a single point.
