U16 girls miss out on Plate decider

- Laochra Óg round- up

On Sunday morning the U16 Camogie team met Banteer in the Plate Semi-Final of the County B Championship.

The girls made a great start, leading by a good margin at half-time but struggled against a very physical Banteer in the second-half, losing by a single point on the end.

The game was played with decorum and skill and it’s great to see the girls enjoying the sport, and watching their skills improve all the time.

Laochra Óg U10s had a hurling match on Saturday morning in Teerbeg against Lee Gaels. It was a cracking game between two evenly matched teams with all lads putting in big performances and Laochra Óg just clinched the win by a point in the end.

The team included Cal O’Driscoll, David Bradley, Matthew Kelleher, Dylan O’Connell, David O’Leary, Aled Hopkins, Dylan O’Shea, Cal O’Connell, Will Buckley and Jack O’Shea in goal.

Their final training session for this season is in Teerbeg on Thursday night.

The U6 hurling group finished up their season with a mini blitz amongst themselves. Before finishing up each child received a medal, a certificate and a bag of treats.

Meanwhile, well done to the U12 boys who put in a fantastic effort full of heart and determination to win the Shield Final against Bantry Blues who never gave up in Colaiste Gobnatan.

This U12 team has lads from all parishes and seven different national schools and sums up the ethos of the club which was once told there was no tradition of hurling in this area.... well there is now!

A huge congratulations to the U13 camogie team who won the U13B Muskerry Final versus Blarney last week.

The game was played in Aghabollogue pitch. Laochra Óg took the lead in the first half and were up at the half-time break. The second-half saw Blarney come out strong and kept Laochra Óg on their toes.

It was really wet by this stage and conditions were hard to play in. Both teams gave it their all but Laochra Óg ran out winners at the end.

Congratulations to Darcy O’Brien of Laochra Óg who was awarded Player Of The Match by the Muskerry board.
