Mallow Utd teams progress on back of weekend goal-fest

MALLOW United Juniors progressed to the third round of the FAI Cup with a comprehens­ive 5-1 win over Avondale United in the Town Park with Anthony Bowles netting two for Mallow and Shane McCarthy, Adam McGrath and Killian O’Brien getting one each.

Mallow United U/18 Boys maintain second position in Division 1A following a 6-0 win over Castlebrid­ge with Shayne Browne and Dylan McGrath scoring two apiece and Trevor O’Driscoll and Eoin Curtis getting the other Mallow goals.

Mallow United U/17 Boys stay in second position in Division 2 despite their first league defeat of the season, going down 3-1 away to Carrigtwoh­ill.

Mallow United U/15A Boys are joint top in a very tight Division 4 after their 7-1 win against Douglas Hall with Emmet Lyons and Killian O’Callaghan getting two each and Patrick Kiely and Nasif Ourguafa also getting on the scoresheet.

Mallow United U/15 Girls were back to winning ways in their league campaign as they got the better of Carrigalin­e United.

Mallow United has a number of introducto­ry level training sessions for boys and girls. Mallow United’s Football for All training takes place every Wednesday from 6pm to 7pm at the Carrigoon Indoor Complex in Mallow. New players are always welcome.

Football for All caters for boys and girls aged 4 to 17 years from throughout the North Cork area and encourages participat­ion in sport for children of all abilities with special or additional needs. The focus of Football for All is on having fun and it is a place where all children can experience the benefits of participat­ion in sport.

The Mallow United Boys academy runs every Tuesday with U/6 and U/7 from 6pm to 7pm and U/8 and U/9 from 7pm to 8pm at Carrigoon Indoor Complex. The Academy is open to boys from U/6 (born 2014) to U/9 (born 2011).
