Banteer camogie pull off historic win

A DETERMINED Banteer pulled off a thrilling 2-3 to 1-4 victory over Laochra Óg in the County U-12 Camogie Final played at Castle Road. The power balance swung either way right through a fascinatin­g contest only for Banteer to pack the extra degree of class to edge the outcome to land their first title in the grade.

From an all out team effort, the Banteer defence tackled and harried with goalkeeper Leah O’Donoughue producing terrific saves. And going forward, the Banteer attack were sharp and industriou­s for Edel O’Donoughue and Gráinne O’Neill net goals.

Team captain Eve O’Connor accepted the Cup amidst jubilant scenes of celebratio­n. The Banteer side lined out as Leah O’Donoghue, Clodagh Buckley, Gemma Buckley, Aisling Sheahan, Eve O’Connor, Orla Brennan, Gaby Arnold, Marelle McSweeney, Brannagh McMahon, Anna O’Sullivan, Edel O’Donoghue, Leanne O’Leary, Grainne O’Neill Subs Aimee O’Connor, Hannah Collins, Annie O’Reilly, Leah Noonan, Robyn O’Connor, Leah Noonan, Lucy Lane, Eimear Barrett, Sive Vaughan, Aoife Casey, Shauna Casey, Caitlin Sweeney and Abbey O’Sullivan.

A rewarding few weeks for Banteer Camogie, their U-11 team bettered Newtownsha­ndrum to win the North Cork League. FIXTURES
