It’s ‘that’ time of year again as Shane Murphy Poc Fada nears

- Laochra Óg Notes

IT’S that time of the year again – The Shane Murphy Memorial Poc Fada is just around the corner. This year the chosen charity is the Irish Guide Dogs.

This is a well-deserved charity that gives such amazing help to all who need it.

To date, this event has raised nearly €7,000 for the various charities and organisers are very grateful to all who turn up on the day.

As always, Tony Hughes, local Credit Union manager, is on board this year again as sponsor. So remember the date, Sunday, November 24 at Clondrohid Community Hall. Come along to support this great cause, to remember Shane and to catch up with some friends.

Meanwhile, the Poc Fada launch will take place in Macroom Credit Union at 7pm on Thursday, November 14.

Last Saturday the U12 Camogie team had their well-deserved day out at the Aqua Dome Tralee. Thanks to parents for joining their children with Laochra Óg over the year which had highs and lows, highs certainly being reaching a U12 County Final and winning a U13 Muskerry Final. Hopefully these girls will return and hopefully encourage more girls to join this stand alone Hurling and Camogie Club in West Muskerry.

The latest Club Development Draw took place in The Tavern, Clondrohid. This week’s winner was Irene Murphy, Renanree who won €305 and the sellers prize goes to Renanree Post Office. Thanks to everyone who supported the draw.

The next draw takes place on November 18.

The Club AGM for 2019 will take place on Friday, November 29, at 7.30pm in Sullane Room at the Castle Hotel Macroom.

Parents/Guardians, players and new members are all welcome to attend.
