good old run up to this point and it would be great to keep that good form going.

“We knew that Iveleary was going to be a massive test as they have been knocking around that stage for a few years while it was the first year in ages that we managed to get out of north Cork so we knew the kind of threat that they were going to pose. We had our homework done and managed to get over the line by two points – I am not sure how pretty it was or anything but we got over the line in the end and for us on that day that is all that happened.”

The Cork star may be the big name on show this weekend but he couldn’t be more pleased with the quality available in Kilshannig right now.

“There are a group of lads now at the club that really are our golden generation if you will. They have had a good bit of success there in the last few years with Under 21s and minors so they really are no strangers to county finals.

“They have raised the standard for all of us really – even for the older lads in the panel and we have all had to up our games really in training and in games. We have all realised that there really is something great going on at the club and we need to make the most of it.”

Success has come to Kilshannig from many quarters and O’Hanlon feels that all triumphs have helped mould the current junior club side.

“We also had the spine of the Patrician Academy All Ireland winning team from Kilshannig and that was also great to see. Some of the young lads in our squad have already won two All Irelands this year and a couple of county titles and most of the rest of us wouldn’t have that put together so that is really positive – the younger lads are a great group in fairness.”

While the main prize on offer this weekend is silverware, along with county bragging rights of course, the chance to represent the county in the Munster Cham
