Clondulane easy winners in girls football final

Clondulane NS 6-7 Ballygown NS 2-1

CLONDULANE were always in control in the 7-a-side girls football final in Mallow. From the start they gained supremacy in defence and they used the short pasing to good effect taking some excellent scores.

Early points by Sophie Ring and Aideen Wall settled Clondulane. In the eighth minute Rachel O’Flynn made it 0-3 to 0-0. Both sides missed a few chances. The winners had their lst goal in the 17th minute when Sophie Ring worked well for Aideen Wall who helped the winners to an interval lead 1-3 to 0-0.

Ballygown had the aid of the breeze on the resumption. Clondulane had their second goal in the fourth minute when Sophie Ring netted after good combined team work. Rachel O’Flynn added a point with Sophie Ring having her second goal midway through the half as thy led 3-4 to 0-0.

Further goals by Rachel O’Flynn and Aideen Wall had the Fermoy side 5 -5 to 0 -0 clear entering the final quarter. Ballygown lacked penetratio­n up front with Ciara O’Grady having their first score a goal from a free. The same player followed with a goal and a point.

Sophie Ring had Clondulane’s sixth goal and her third overall in the closing moments as they ran out easy victors.
