Quiz buffs tackle Dromtariffe event
NATIONAL School quiz buffs enjoyed the annual Dromtariffe Juvenile GAA Table Quiz hosted in Dromtariffe Hall, as teams from throughout the Duhallow division and beyond were put to the test.
And at the end of eight rounds, the boys and girls from close on 60 teams had answered posers drawn from general knowledge, sport and current affairs, as well as such matters as the Rugby World Cup and much more.
Fortunes swayed one way and then the other before the outright spoils belonged to a Ballydesmond NS team comprising of Eoghan O’Riordan, Timmy Keane, Jack Buckley and Tomás Myers.
Just a single mark adrift were a Rathcoole quartet featuring a line-up of Abbie Linehan, Tara Kelleher, Anna Lehane and Nicole Buckley. Millstreet Presentation NS filled third position with team members Catheriona Lehane, Saoirse Kiely, Anna Buckley and Meabh Casey.
From the Junior class, Derinagree emerged on top with a team of Roisín Walsh, Fionn Murphy, Clodagh O’Keeffe and Seán Flynn. Knocknagree collected second prize, represented by Kate Fleming, Lucy Courtney, Julie O’Connor and Jessica Guerin with St Colmans from Kanturk securing third place, thanks to the efforts of Jack Vaughan, Jake O’Grady, Micheál O’Sullivan and Shane Forde.
Dromtariffe Juvenile GAA Club Chairman Michael Murphy extended thanks to an impressive number of participating teams.
“All credit to the huge number of teams drawn from across Duhallow who entered. And thanks go to the Dromtariffe club members for ensuring the smooth operation of the staging,” he said.
