Mitchelstown Area Community Games was formed in 1969 by PJ Walsh and loyal volunteers. The area now includes Araglin, Glanworth, Kildorrery, Kilworth ,Mitchelstown and Shanballymore.
Community Games provided and still provides young people with the means and the opportunity to utilise children’s leisure time in a healthy and productive manner.
There are 47 games on offer, be they cultural or sporting, for children aged from six to 16.
Games are organised at local level before advancing to Cork County , Munster and Nationals.
Community Games need a wide range of people to coach, train or manage local teams in sporting and cultural activities.
One can also help with committee work; organise and steward local events; local fund-raising and sponsorship; work in PR and development at local and county level; and transport teams and equipment
One can contact (087) 358 9734 to continue PJ’s legacy and forward ideas to progress the games.
