Mallow’s Centre Stage take centre stage
RENOWNED as one of the country’s leading centres for the development of young theatrical talent, Mallow’s Centre Stage School has once again underscored that thoroughly deserved reputation.
This after members of the centre put in some outstanding performances against dancers from across Ireland and the UK at the recent Elite Dance ‘5,6,7,8’ Competition in Dublin.
The founder and director of Centre Stage, Aideen McAuliffe said that having competed in last year’s competition, the dancers underwent six-weeks of intense training and preparation ahead of the event.
“This meant they were ready and proud to represent their school,” said Aideen.
“The hours of searching for the right music, learning choreography, rehearsal and costume buying certainly paid off. All thanks to the magic and creativity of their exceptional dance teachers David O’Connor and Lesley Anne Radcliffe.”
In addition to the outstanding individual and group performances from the Mallow dancers (see below) the senior Company group’s piece ‘One Drop’, which is about the importance of giving blood, won a special award for outstanding choreography.
“We want to thank our students for their commitment, and all parents of this talented bunch for their unwavering support, in the run up to this competition,” said Aideen.
“Congratulations to all our competitors. You have done yourselves and Centre Stage School proud.”
